Driving just driving. Day nineteen.
The morning started out by mum and dad yelling at us to get up and into the car because it was raining and we didn't have the covers up. So we were all up and confused and then it stopped raining and then started again. Mum finally told us to get our stuff into the car and wait for them to pack up. Mum and Dad got really wet and were very unhappy about the rain.
We headed off to mum's shoe shop to see if they had her size. We were very disappointed when Mum only one pair because the others were awful. We were off to somewhere, nobody knew. We had fish 'n' chips in a nice little park in Chiltern. We had a look in the info centre where there was a very cheery owner. We bought a keying and collective spoon and got a sticker. It was then back on the road. We were attempting to get to Gonderdi. But we went through there and saw the Dog on the tuckerbox. Dad wanted to continue so we were on the road again. We finally arrived at Jugiong where we were happy to stop at a showground free camp. We set up the caravan in the dark which was really fun. We then cook dinner and off to bed. We're hopefully in for a good sleep.
Oh, my sore feet! Day eighteen.
We slept in this morning because we were so tired from the weekend of dancing. When we got up it was about 9 o clock. We went in to the city to have a look around at all the amazing things. We took a tram in to the city and it was really crowded.
We stopped at the library where there were really big chess sets but they weren't available. We went into the library where it was very quiet. There were lots of displays of old things from Victoria's history including Ned Kelly's armor.
We then went and had lunch. I had Chinese. We headed down the street where we saw lots of horses pulling carriages. We went on the tram again but not for long because it stopped at the next stop and went back again to where we got on! We decided to walk instead.
We walked through Chinatown where there were a lot of Chinese shops. We came across the Victorian Parliament House which was huge and pretty.
Around the corner we found lots of rocks with sculptures of skeletons of animals. We walked to the Fitzroy Gardens and there we went into the conservatory where there were lots of plants and statues. From there we went and saw Captain Cooks Cottage which was small and pretty and then we headed to the Fairy Tree which had lots of fairies and animals carved into the trunk. Around the fairy tree there were free books and we took two of them.
Near the fairy tree there was the Model Tudor Village from England which I thought the fairies lived in. The houses were really cute and they even had a church and little gardens. A little way away there was what looked like a dragon. We went to explore the dragon and realised that it was a dragon slide and there was also a headless giraffe with swings on its arms and we had a little play on them.
We walked from the garden to the ACMI Australian Centre for the Moving Image where we saw a giraffe from the film Madagascar with its head sticking through the window. We had a look at the displays inside. They had some models of the dragon from the film How to Train a Dragon. From there we went to Flinders St Station and took a photo under the clocks.
After that we waited for the tram in the freezing cold for ages and then we got on to the jam packed tram. The driver had to tell everyone to move back. We got back to the car and drove back to the city because Daddy wanted to have dinner in the city! We decided to eat at a Japanese cafe and it was really yummy. I had yakiniku.
When we got home we had a shower and when we were having our shower mum and dad took down the annexe because it was really really windy.
I hope we have a nice peaceful night in the stormy wind.
Day seventeen
We were so tired from yesterday. We headed back to the competition where it was another day of dance. Today Sarah was dancing first so I got to have a break. I was only doing 5 dances so I felt alright. I didn't win anything but Sarah got lots of medals and two trophies which was really good. It was lots of fun, but very tiring.
At the end of the day it was the presentations for the Champion of Champions Championship of Australia which is one of the most important dances. At the end of the day we went and had dinner at Red Rooster. We scared the staff because they thought our car was their bosss'. I had the same as what I had yesterday. We then headed back to the caravan park and had showers. It was the last day of the comp and we were all very tired. We fell asleep nearly at once. We're ready for tomorrow.
Day eleven
We were going to watch a documentary a the Main Corner after brekky, so we got everything that we needed and headed off at about 10:30am. The documentary was very informative. It told us how the Blue Lake was formed and showed us why this happens. The documentary took about one hour so it was lunchtime when it finished.
We went to have a look at the cave garden which was very beautiful. Mum and Dad were pretending to take photos of us next to the cave to distract us while they ran away. We had to give chase and finally caught up at the top of the stairs, laughing.
After the garden we went to a food store to get something to eat for lunch. We then decided to have lunch with a view of Blue Lake.We had a delicious lunch of meat and salad sandwiches, while admiring the Blue Lake. The lake was an amazing turquoise colour but the middle was going a dull grey.
After lunch we headed to the Lady Nelson Discovery Centre where we were taking a self-guided tour back through time of Mount Gambier. The lady at the front desk gave Tim, Sarah and I an information hunt where we had to find information about someone or something. We had a look at the Lady Nelson but couldn't go into the boat. We also watched a holograph of a person who use to work with the aboriginals. After the tour we took our info hunt back to the front desk and got a lucky prize for getting it all right. We got a postcard and magnet.
We then headed off to Grandpapa's house again. When we arrived at grandpapa's place had the fishing gear out. He told us stories from when he used to go fishing. He then took us into his garage and showed us some of the things he has had since my mum was a little girl. Grandpapa also asked Dad if he could have a look at some tyres for the trailer. We then had a look around the garden and fed the ducks and geese. We headed off to the pub called The Commercial again and this time I had the huge bowl of icecream too!
Grandpapa! Day ten
It was the day that we were heading off to Mount Gambier. We did the washing at the campsite so we got out of the site about10:00am. We headed to the cafe near the info centre to get a collective spoon, key ring and sticker. We then headed off to Mount Gambier, it was 100km so it took about 1hr.
We arrived and decided to go and set up the caravan at the showgrounds before visiting Grandpapa. We decided to have lunch at the show grounds so we went and got something random from Bakers Delight. We waited for the camp host because we needed to get the toilet key. After we got the key we headed for Grandpapa's house arriving about 20mins later.
Aunty Val met us in the garden and took us on a pre-tour before Grandpapa came out of the house. Grandpapa is blind and deaf but knows his was way around the huge garden, living there for about 30yrs.
Grandpapa took us on a big tour around the garden telling us stories about the Second World War. He showed us a piece of burl which his friends had cut for him that look like Australia with Tasmania still connected. We fed the ducks and geese bread and watched the ducks on the water.
After a long time in the garden we headed off to Aunty Val and Grandpapa's new house. It was a long drive to the house but we arrived in the end. We had a look around the house and in the shed out the back before heading off to dinner. We were having dinner at a pub called the Commercial. I had the special which was chicken Kiev for dinner which was nice. For dessert I had sticky date pudding but we all had an eye on Sarah's dessert, a huge bowl of ice cream and sprinkles. It took her a long time to finish. So it was time to head back. We went straight to bed.

Day sixteen
I was having a Highland Dancing competition called Champion of Champions Championship of Australia. I had butterflies in my stomach because it was a big comp. We got ready and headed off. We arrived and it was crazy! We had to squeeze into the costume rom and found a place. Then I had to get changed into my kilt. My first dance was the Laddie. I had to warm up and I was so tired because I haven't been dancing for ages. I had six dances today: Laddie, Johnnie, Lilt, Blue Bonnets, Village Maid and another Lilt. I only got a prize in the Village Maid where I got fourth prize, $25 and a medal. Sarah also danced in the afternoon. We then had dinner at Red Rooster, it was really nice. We then headed to the supermarket to get some juice for the comp tomorrow. Then it was to the caravan park and SLEEP!
Dancing Competition tomorrow. Yay.

Day nine
We woke and were very excited because it was the day we were going into the caves. We had brekky and got dressed and put our shoes on and headed off to the Wet Cave in which we were taking a self-guided tour. It was really fun down the cave, they had little signs that we could read information off. We saw why it had gotten its name of the Wet Cave, in little spots it had puddles of water. After the Wet Cave we head off to the Wanambi Fossil Centre where we had a look at the way they think it look like in the days of the megafauna. The megafauna were moving and it was a little freaky. We then headed off in the car to the Victorian Fossil Cave where we were having a guided tour. We headed down in to the cave where we had a look at stalactites and stalagmites and how they are formed we also had a look at some fossils that had been found down in the cave. We had a look at how the creatures had fallen down the hole and had ether gotten eaten or had crawled away and died. We then headed out of the cave and headed off back to the campsite for lunch, chicken sandwiches.
After lunch at about 2:00pm we headed off to the visitor's centre where we had to meet up for our next activity. We meet up with Yaz, our Adventure Caving guide. She took us to a shed where we got into overalls, put knee pads on and got a helmet with a torch. We then head off to the Wet Cave, we were going into another cave called Stick-Tomato Cave. We had some practice crawling around in the cave ground. We then did three challenges which were: The eye of the needle, The key hole and the slot. We also did little activities. It was really fun down in the cave. After the cave we went back into the information centre where we got a participation certificate, we also got to into the Wanambi Fossil Centre and then headed back home. We had dinner and went to bed.
Day Eight
We woke up and had brekky which was eggs on toast. We left Rupanyup to head off to Horsham where we were going to wash our clothes in a laundromat. We were going to have lunch but we just walked around the streets while waiting for the clothes to wash.
Then after the clothes were washed we headed off somewhere to find something to eat. We found food in a town called Natimuk, we ate lunch in a park and had a play before heading off into South Australia.
We stopped at the border of South Australia and had pictures of the sign. We then arrived at the closest town which was Naracoorte where the caves were. We arrived at the campsite where we found a site and payed our money for the site. We then checked out the visitors centre where we paid for all the tours that we were going to take the next day. The caves were: Wet Cave, Victorian Fossil Caves. We were also going in an adventurous caving in Stick-Tomato Cave and the Wanambi Fossil Centre. Day Seven
We got woken up by Mum telling us that we need to move now otherwise we might get bogged. So Dad told us to pack up our stuff and go and sit in the car while they pack up the caravan in the rain. After the caravan was packed up we headed off to have breakfast at Jerilderie at a cafe in a petrol station. For brekky we got to have three snags (sausages), two eggs, two pieces of toast and a cooked tomato. So yummy!
We then headed off to Echuca where we were going to visit a woodturner. When we arrived at Echuca and it was raining! So we got our raincoats and walk quickly to the woodturning shop. When we arrived the owner wasn't woodturning. 😞 And he still wasn't when we left. But we went to the information centre where we got a collective spoon, a key ring and a sticker. We also got some Castlemaine Rock, maybe for grandpa. We then headed off to see Bobby, mummy's cousin. We had to drive about 2km to the chemist in which she worked at. We asked at the front desk to see Bobby and we had a little chat about what we were doing.
We then left Echuca and went to Rupanyup where we were staying that night. We arrived there and it was quite a cute place. It had a playground, toilets, showers $1 for 5min, powered sites and rubbish bins and water for $10 for a night. The Sarah, Tim and I went onto the playground while mum and dad set up the caravan. We then started making dinner which was mince on toast, when the caretaker came to get the money for our stay. We had dinner and played Yahtzee but only half finished it. Then it was bed time.

The rainy day. Day six
We started the day by waking up early, packing the van and getting ready to head of to Peak Hill where we were going to eat breakfast. We had a good trip down the road from Tomingley which is where we'd stayed that night. We arrived at the open cut gold mine and had breakfast cereal at a picnic table. We then went bushwalking around the outside of the mine. We were going to find an earth cache in which we had to answer questions about the mine and how it was built. While we were looking at the mine there were these little annoying insects called Mosquitos eating us! We had to run back down the hill otherwise we would have been carried away by them.
After the open cut gold mine we headed off to the Parkes Radio Telescope know as The Dish. We arrived at the huge dish which is even bigger then the one at Narrabri. It was massive! So at the The Dish we had a look at the displays that were laid out. We then got a collective spoon for me and a sticker and a keyring. We also had lunch there which included amazing beef red wine pie and a caramel iced galaxy (a drink). I also got dad to by mum a birthday present.
We then headed to the car and decided to see how far we could reach in one stretch and found out a place called Narranderra and set up the caravan in the rain. We then had dinner which was spaghetti. After a divine dinner we set up the beds and went to bed. Hope we don't get bogged! 😉

It took a little while to find and get to the zoo. To find our we followed the zoo signs which was really fun. Inside Dubbo zoo we park the car and caravan in the caravan parking and headed to where the tickets were. We then headed off to the entry of the zoo and showed our ticket to the woman at the desk and headed into the magnificent zoo.

Day Four
I woke up about 6:00 because wind was very loud. I went out side and had a look at the rising sun and read, waiting for mum to wake up. When everyone was up we had breakfast, which was Bacon and eggs on toast. We then started to pack up the van because we were planning to drive up to the siding springs observatory and go and have a look at the AAT (Anglo Australian Telescope) so we bolted up the caravan and drove up the hill.
We arrived up the top of the hill we got out and it was freezing. We went in side the obereservatory and paid to have a look at the displays. We also found out how heavy we would be on the planets which was quite fun! We then went up to the AAT which was up another hill. When we were up the hill it was so cold! We dashed to the door and went inside, we went up a lift and had a look around the gallery, we were able to see the humongous telescope. It was magnificent! We then came back down and got a collective spoon, a keying and a sticker.
We were heading for Dubbo where we were staying the night. It took a little while to get to Dubbo, it was about 1:30pm when we got there. We went to the information centre to have a look in and see what they had. We then went to the park that was behind the information centre where we had lunch which was this time chicken sandwiches. After lunch we went to the Old Dubbo Gaol. Thos was really cool seeing the Old Gaol there and ow people were punished in the olden days. A guide told us how many escapes were tried and failed and some of them were quite funny. It was really amazing at the Gaol. After we had finished in the Gaol we got an keyring for Sarah.
After the Jaol we went to find a caravan park where we were going to stay the night. We decided to go to the caravan park called Dubbo City. We arrived there and they had a spot, so we set up the caravan there. The caravan park had a pool, a playground, a basket ball hoop and a jumping pillow which Sarah was eager to go on. So mum took us over there after she had put on the washing. It was really fun in the jumping pillow, bouncing up and down. We then went t have dinner which was take away because we were too lazy to make anything and it was getting dark so we wandered over to the shops and got pizza for Dad, Mum and I and Tim and Sarah had burgers and we all had chips with it. After dinner we had amino and went to bed.
Day Three
We survived the first night! I woke up about 5:30am because the noise from the trucks was so loud! I read on my kindle till Mum woke. We had breakfast which was nutri-grain and toast. After breakfast we had to start packing the up the beds and getting everything down ready to wind down the caravan, But... There was a problem, the caravan didn't want to wind down. But luckily we have a superman on board, Dad. We helped dad get everything out of the caravan and he got in and started pulling stuff apart. Finally he found the problem, the cable had jammed on the winch. Dad, of corse figured out how to fix it and in no time we were putting everything back into the caravan, winding down the caravan and hitching it up to the car. We were off!
We then left to ho to the sandstone caves. Dad had missed the entry to thee caves so we had to do a U-turn with the caravan on board which was fun. So when we got in to the entry we had to go along a bumpy road to the start of the trail. We had to put on our runners and fill up our water bottles before we started. It said that it would be an hour walk around the caves but we found some stairs and took them only going a short way. We got to see two spectacular caves that look very nice. On one of them the was some Aboriginal carvings of emu and kangaroo footprints and some axe sharpening grooves. Dad said that it might have been a school. After them we decided to turn back because it was getting late.
We were off to Narrabri which took about an hour. At Narrabri we went to the Australian Telescope which was really cool. The radio telescopes were humongous! We read some information about the telescopes. There was a film about the telescopes that we watched which was quite informative. After the Australian Telescope we went and had lunch in Narrabri which was sandwiches and chocolate milk, which was extremely nice! Then we went to the visitors centre where we got to go in a full size real harvester that use to harvest cotton, it we on model. We also bought a collective spoon for me, a keying for Sarah and a sticker of the cotton fields for the caravan.
After the caves we had to head of to the place that we were going to sleep at. We were heading for Warrumbungle. We decided to see if we can get a spot in a caravan park. It was a long way to the caravan park, we had to he'd up a hill then down the hill. I thought it was a awesome ride because there were so many views. This area had a fire at the start of last year in January. We finally made it to the park and they had plenty of space, so we payed our $19.00 and went and found a site. We went up to the facility block and had nice hot shower which were lovely. When we got back i made dinner which was sweet and sour chicken, which was very nice. We then had dessert which was choc chip muffins. After we were fed we went and walked around the campsite in the dark which was really cool! We then did a bit of stargazing and then went to bed.

Off to Tookey's Creek! Day Two
We woke up and had showers and Grandpa weeties for breakfast then we got all the stuff that we brought in last night and packed it in the car. We then went off to a dancewear shop and tried to get some black dancing pants because mum forgot to pack them. Finding out that the shop didn't have any, we then went to Hanna's to see if they had any and after looking all around the shop we found that they did, we bought them . After Hanna's we went back to grandpa's to get out the sheets and fold them up and to also get our undies so after that we headed off.
We were heading for Tookey's creek, after about 3hrs of driving we were in Goondawindi where we decided to have lunch so we went to the shop part of the town. Sarah also wanted to get some rainbow loom rubber bands so we went to Crazy Clark's and asked if they had any but they didn't so we went to Target to see if they had anything but they didn't have any either so we decided to go Foodworks and get some food for dinner and something for lunch. It took awhile to get everything into the esky but we finally managed and we drove over to a park to make our lunches which ended up as sandwiches with meat and cheese. We also had a soft drink and some fruit. I also had a play on a park roundabout which was really fun.
We then headed off again to our goal which is Tookey's creek. After about an hour it begun to rain (great!) well, it was fun watching the grey clouds coming closer and closer. Dad said that it was about another hour till we get to our destination. To enjoy ourselves we talked and read and played games and look out the window at the cotton farms which look like snow (very fun!), when we were about 13km away from Tookey's Creek mum, dad and I started a count down of kilometers left, it was really fun but it really annoyed Tim. When we got down to 900m we got really excited.
Finally, we arrived (yippee!) at Tookey's Creek and it had finished raining which was lucky because we didn't want to get wet. So we got the caravan up and everything set up, I got inside and started making dinner which was sausages, salad and potato salad which was very nice. After dinner we had dessert choc chip muffins which were very nice! Then mum and Tim started playing a card game then we had some water to drink and went to bed.
First night in the van, wish us luck!
Goodnight.

Day One
Today I had to go to school before the big trip to Melbourne. It was 3:20 when I got home with Tim, Mum had gone to pick up Sarah and Dad was packing the caravan. We got changed and then packed everything into the car. It took a while to pack the stuff in, by the time we had hitched up the caravan and were ready to go it was about 5:00pm.
We headed off for Toowoomba where we were staying at our grandpa's house. When we got to Suncorp Stadium we had a bit of trouble moving on the road because there was going to be a game on tonight and everyone wanted to go in front of the caravan. I was reading a book on my kindle because it got boring looking out of the window. It took ages getting to the place that we were going to eat at. I kept saying every half an hour "how long till we're there?" And the response would nearly always "we're half way there".
We finally arrived at the bottom of Toowoomba range and we turned into a petrol station where there were shops and the place that we were going to eat at, so we park the car and caravan cross 3 carparks and went to Papa Joes Pizzeria where we know is awesome. Tim, Sarah and I shared a pizza and mum and dad shared one too, we also had a drink. It took ages to eat the pizzas but it warmed us up a lot. Sarah took the longest to eat the pizza but she finally finished in the end.
We got in to the car and headed up the range, on the range the speed limit was 60km but it drop down to 40km and it felt like we were going backwards. We finally got up the range and drove off to grandpa's house. When we got there we tumbled out of the car and went inside. Mum told us to go to bed, I read until I was so tired that I fell asleep.
